Two Sisters Paraview Cabernet 2023, Eden Valley
12.8 per cent. RRP $70. Cabernet from their vineyard south-east of Eden Valley at around 380 metres, southerly aspect, picked early May in the cool 2023. A small Shiraz component from the sandy cliff-face soils on the Paraview property in the western Barossa adds depth. Vines 25 years old. Twelve months in a mix of old French and American hogsheads, some left in tank. No fining. Medium-bodied by design for the cool year.
Medium crimson. Cassis and blackberry, then a little dark cherry and subtle herbal lift from the cooler site. Fragrant and medium-bodied. Cool-climate Cabernet fruit on soft tannin, with the Barossa Shiraz dollop giving a bit more weight through the middle. Fresh and clean. The intention was a fragrant Eden Valley Cabernet, and that is what it is.
Vino Masters Score: 95/100 ★★★★★ Cool-site cassis and a touch of Barossa Shiraz. Fragrant and medium-bodied. Try with Lamb Roast or Haigh's chocolates.
