Brand & Sons Glenroy Shiraz 2024, Coonawarra

Brand & Sons Glenroy Shiraz 2024, Coonawarra

From the northern Coonawarra sub-region of Glenroy, on the higher ground, a prime piece of Terra Rossa over narrow limestone. Consistently one of the top performing Shiraz vineyards in the region, and the wine is always dark and dense.

Deep crimson, almost black at the core. Blackberry, black plum and blueberry pour out of the glass, with dark chocolate and a quiet line of cedar.

This is the glass you slow down for. Full-bodied, densely concentrated and seriously plush. Rich dark fruit sits in firm, finely grained tannins and balanced acidity, the site giving it depth rather than just weight. French and American oak brings mocha, spice and savoury complexity, folded in, not laid on. The highlight is the mid-palate: a tight mineral thread, a hint of strawberry jam, and choc mint. The finish is long, powerful and persistent.

An $80 Coonawarra Shiraz that tastes like it. Remarkable density, layered fruit, and oak that knows its place.

Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Glenroy Terra Rossa, mineral and choc mint. A glass worth lingering over. Drink now to 2034
