Stage Door GSM 2024, Barossa Valley

Made by Phil Lehmann. Grenache 38%, Shiraz 36%, Mataro 26%.

Deep crimson with a rich purple core. Ripe blackberry, dark cherry and plum, with liquorice, dried herbs and warm spice. Almost Christmas cake: sugar cherries, plums, almonds and spice, plus dark currant fruit.

Medium to full-bodied and generously textured. A very well made wine, with robust flavours, tight yet fine-grained tannins and judicious oak. Lifted red fruit and darker berries, brightness against savoury complexity, balanced acidity holding the richness. The finish is long with dark fruit and spice lingering. Rich and full. Depth, spice and real craft in the glass.

Stated alcohol 14.3%, though the richness drinks closer to 15.3%.

Vino Masters Score: 95/100 ★★★★★ Christmas cake fruit, tight tannins and a long bold finish. Drink now to 2032
