Moppity Escalier Shiraz 2018, Hilltops, New South Wales

Moppity Escalier Shiraz 2018, Hilltops, New South Wales

Deep garnet with vibrant crimson hues. The nose is richer and more open than the 2017, showing generous blackberry, ripe plum and mulberry, layered with warm spice, dark chocolate, cedar, leather and savoury earth.

The palate is fuller, rounder and more expansive while remaining true to the house style. Medium bodied, it offers excellent depth and weight with a core of ripe plum and blackberry fruit. Fine, velvety tannins provide structure without heaviness, while a subtle lift of mint and savoury nuance keeps the wine fresh. The finish is long, smooth and well-composed, with lingering fruit and spice.

A slightly warmer vintage expression, showing more flesh and generosity, yet still anchored by the elegance that defines Escalier. Rhône-like in feel, but with distinctly Australian brightness and energy. Drinking beautifully now.
