Moppity Escalier Shiraz 2017, Hilltops, New South Wales
Moppity Escalier Shiraz 2017, Hilltops, New South Wales
Deep garnet with crimson hues. The nose is complex and quietly expressive, offering layers of dark plum, blackberry and dried fruits, interwoven with well-integrated cedar, subtle earth and a lifted bay leaf note.
On the palate it strikes a beautiful balance between power and restraint. Medium-bodied yet concentrated, it delivers pure plum and blackberry fruit wrapped in fine, silky tannins that have softened beautifully with time. Red cherry and savoury spice add interest through the mid-palate, leading to a long, smooth and gently persistent finish.
There’s a calm confidence to this wine; nothing forced, nothing overworked. Just honest, site-driven Shiraz from the old Escalier vineyard, planted in 1973 at elevation in Hilltops. A cracking vintage that shows both finesse and character from Jason and Alecia Brown.
