Sourced from the North Ruin Block of the Fechner family vineyard in Eden Valley. 100% Shiraz grown at 360 metres on red loam over limestone. Matured nine months in French oak (40% new). Just 110 dozen produced.

The aromatics are deep and captivating, opening with blackberry, plum and dark cherry layered with spice, subtle florals and a gentle savoury lift. The palate is medium to full-bodied with impressive concentration and texture; dense dark berry fruit flows confidently from the outset before polished tannins shape the wine through a long, structured frame. Layers of blackberry, mocha and spice unfold through the mid-palate with excellent persistence, while the French oak sits neatly within the wine, adding polish and depth without overwhelming the purity of fruit.

Having previously pruned vines while living in Eden Valley in the 1990’s, tasting this wine instantly takes me back to the region’s pure fruit, rolling hills and those grand old red gum trees that stand beside the vineyards. The site is clearly and perfectly reflected in this wine.
