Impenetrable inky-black at the core with a luminous deep crimson rim. The saturation is extraordinary, with thick, slow-moving tears clinging to the glass.
The nose is expansive and commanding, revealing intense blackberry, black plum and satsuma plum compote layered with crushed black pepper, liquorice root, dark chocolate, smoked meat and espresso. Violet florals and finely integrated French oak add lift and refinement.
On the palate this is a magnificent expression of the outstanding 2021 vintage. Powerful waves of blackberry compote, cassis and dark cherry deliver remarkable fruit density, framed by savoury spice, cracked pepper and a distinct graphite edge. Fine-grained, ripe tannins provide beautiful structure and shape, while layers of mocha, dark cocoa and toasty oak weave seamlessly through the mid-palate. The finish is long, resonant and persistent with black fruit, spice and mineral complexity. Monumental, refined and exceptional.
