A blend of 54% Grenache, 38% Shiraz and 8% Mataro, presenting a dark, brooding and distinctly savoury expression. The fruit appears tired and subdued, with earthy, dusty and mineral characters dominating the aromatic profile. The palate is firm and heavily weighted towards savoury tannins, dark earthy flavours and pronounced oak influence. There is considerable structure, although the extended oak maturation appears to have come at the expense of fruit purity and vibrancy. Lacking the freshness, brightness and energy expected from a Grenache-led blend, the finish is dry, earthy and somewhat fatigued. A deeply savoury style that ultimately lacks the fruit definition and balance to achieve greater heights.
