Dalliance Marananga Shiraz 2021, Barossa Valley

Dalliance Marananga Shiraz 2021, Barossa Valley

A commanding Marananga Shiraz from an outstanding vintage, marrying immense power with elegance and precision.

Impenetrable, inky black at the core with a luminous deep crimson rim. The saturation is extraordinary, clinging to the glass with thick, slow-moving tears that speak to both concentration and structural depth. A wine of formidable presence from the first pour.

The aroma is expansive immediately revealing the pedigree of Marananga. Intense aromas of blackberry, black plum and satsuma plum surge from the glass, layered with crushed black pepper, liquorice root and dark chocolate. Hints of smoked meats, espresso crema and ironstone minerality evoke its proximity to some of the Barossa’s most revered vineyards. Subtle violet florals and finely integrated French oak add lift and polish, bringing refinement to the wine’s natural power.

A magnificent expression of the 2021 vintage, powerful and magically composed. The palate unfolds with concentrated waves of blackberry compote, cassis and dark cherry, framed by savoury spice, cracked pepper and a distinct graphite edge. There is remarkable fruit density; the structure remains precise and controlled. Fine-grained tannins, abundant but beautifully ripe, provide architectural shape and longevity. Layers of mocha, dark cocoa and toasty oak weave seamlessly through the mid-palate, adding texture while lifting the fruit forward. The finish is long and resonant, echoing with black fruits, spice and mineral persistence.

Vino Masters Score: 98/100 ★★★★★ This is a Shiraz that captures both the generosity of Barossa and the refinement of a truly exceptional vintage.
