Rosenvale Kerner Fiano 50/50, Barossa Valley

Rosenvale Kerner Fiano 50/50, Barossa Valley

Brilliant pale straw. Aromas of a spring rose garden, with peach, pear, honeydew melon, Meyer lemon and a soapy floral lift. The 50/50 blend is handled differently in the cellar: destemmed and pressed, with the Fiano fermented for 18 days in stainless and the Kerner barrel-fermented with lees stirring.

That shows. It is broad yet crunchy and zippy, with fresh tangy lemon, lime and orange peel acidity. Plush and textural, a wash rind cheese character gives middle-palate grip. The finish carries lemon pith and waxy minerality. Alcohol 12%. Thoroughly enjoyable. Best served chilled with ocean trout, greens and lemon butter. A great alternative for wines by the glass.

Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Spring rose garden, Meyer lemon and a textural finish. Plush and zippy at once. Drink now, lightly chilled.
