Eden Hall Grand Reserve Shiraz 2021, Eden Valley

Eden Hall Grand Reserve Shiraz 2021, Eden Valley

Bottle No. 1577

Deep crimson with a dense purple core. Blackberry, dark plum and blueberry, layered with black pepper, liquorice, dark chocolate and subtle cedar.

Sourced from just six carefully nurtured rows. The vines grow among native grasses, without herbicides or synthetic inputs, fed by compost made on the property and selected compost teas. Three years in a 1,500-litre French oak Foudre has brought integration, not overt oak.

Full-bodied, viscous and richly flavoured. A floating spectrum of dark currants, blackberry, dark plum and blueberry. Liquorice, dark chocolate, black pepper and savoury spice meld together, held by firm, polished tannins and balanced acidity. Cedar and savoury oak add depth without crowding the fruit. The tannins are fine, silky and woven through. The finish is exceptionally long, carrying dark currants, blackberry, chocolate, pepper and spice.

Bold and spirited. Mardi and David Hall’s vision, Phil Lehmann’s winemaking. One of the greatest Eden Valley Shiraz wines tasted this year. Exceptional.

Vino Masters Score: 98/100 ★★★★★ Six rows, three years in Foudre, and a finish that will not let go. Drink now to 2038
