Stonegarden Dutton Single Origin Ale, Barossa Valley
Stonegarden Dutton Single Origin Ale, Barossa Valley
Deep golden-brown in colour, with an inviting aroma that immediately takes you into a working brewery. Toasted grain, dark malt, almond, star anise, molasses and honey rise from the glass, with plenty of character.
The palate is rich, round and smooth, showing sweet bread dough, burnt caramel, dark chocolate, dried orange zest and honeycomb. There is a firm tannin-like grip giving the ale shape while the creamy malt texture brings a faint reminission of Caffrey’s.
There’s also a wonderful sense of place here, almost as though you can taste the sunshine and the golden Dutton plains, with the wind rising and diving across the landscape.
The finish is long and warming, with dark malt, caramel, chocolate, honeycomb and spice lingering beautifully.
Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Rich, evocative and deeply flavoured, with toasted malt, dark chocolate and honeycomb carrying through a long finish.
