HEWITSON Grenache UNGRAFTED 2025, Barossa Valley
HEWITSON Grenache UNGRAFTED 2025, Barossa Valley
13.0% Alc/Vol
Crimson red in colour, with lifted floral aromatics of potpourri, mineral, slate and earth.
The palate is incredibly fine and almost sandy in texture, with firm rhubarb and beetroot characters wrapped around dark raspberry and plum fruit. There is a solid core of mid-palate weight, while the oak is beautifully judged, intertwining seamlessly with the intensity of the old-vine fruit. The wine remains bright with plenty of tension and energy, finishing on distinctive Negroni-like tannins.
What Dean Hewitson has created here is phenomenal. There is genuine respect for these century-old vines; every component feels measured, nothing is overworked, and the fruit has clearly been handled with enormous care. Drink now to 2038
Vino Masters Score: 97 / 100 ★★★★★
‘Sourced from century-old, dry-grown, ungrafted Grenache vines grown in deep sandy soils, the fruit was whole-bunch fermented in open vats before finishing fermentation and maturation in old French barriques.’ Dean Hewitson 06/10/2026
