This 2019 Macaw Creek Estate Reserve is winemaker Rod Hopper’s favourite wine ….and after tasting it, it’s easy to see why.

For a seven-year-old wine, it’s remarkably bright, full of life and still bursting with energy. A classic Australian Shiraz Cabernet blend that delivers both power and polish.

It shows a deep ruby colour with subtle garnet edges. The nose is excellent; blackberry, cassis and ripe plum layered with cedar, warm spice and earthy complexity.

The palate is medium to full-bodied with real depth and drive. Dark berry fruit sits beautifully alongside firm, integrated tannins, while the mid-palate unfolds with savoury, developed characters and well-judged oak. It finishes long, smooth and wonderfully rounded with outstanding length.

This is a mature, complex and seriously moreish wine. Bright, energetic and beautifully balanced, exactly what you want from a top Australian Claret!
