Hewitson The Dorrien Bank Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, Barossa Valley
Hewitson ‘The Dorrien Bank’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, Barossa Valley
Deep crimson with an almost opaque core. Blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum lead the aromatics, with violet, graphite, savoury herbs and a touch of sweet vanillin oak adding complexity.
The palate is tight and firm, yet fleshy and plush through the middle, with dark currant fruit at the core. Fine minerality adds definition, while the oak is beautifully judged, bringing subtle sweetness without taking over.
There is excellent intensity and complexity here, with the wine remaining long from start to finish. The structure is serious, but everything is beautifully integrated and well put together.
