Welland ‘Krieg’s Legacy Shiraz “1846” 2024 Barossa Valley
Welland ‘Krieg’s Legacy Shiraz “1846” 2024 Barossa Valley
Bold and expressive, this Barossa Valley Shiraz captures the region’s signature of power and intensity. Aromas of blackberry, black plum are layered with spice, and bold oak influences.
The palate follows with blackberry and spice; it is rich and full-bodied with concentrated dark fruits supported by firm polished tannins. The concentrated dark fruits lead the savoury undertones, while balanced acidity keeps the wine composed and focused.
The Welland Krieg’s Legacy ‘1846’ is a classic Barossa Shiraz with presence, structure, and length.
Powerful and controlled, it delivers immediate impact with a confident, lingering finish.

Winemakers Notes: 1846 is the year the Krieg family set sail from Germany to arrive in SA and settle in Barossa, in 1923 the Krieg family planted the Welland vineyard. This wine is a combination of the last Shiraz parcels we picked in the 2024 vintage. It was fermented cool and spent 10 days in fermenters versus our standard 7 days with other wines. Barrel matured for 16 months in new and old AP John American hogsheads.
