Domaine BART Marsannay Saint Jacques 2020

Domaine Bart – Marsannay

Saint Jacques 2020

From the first sip, this wine made an immediate impression, so much so that my fellow Vino Masters could barely contain their appreciation as the duck was served at the award-winning Watervale Hotel.

Bright red cherry leads the way, layered with notes of bitter chocolate, red plum skin and stone fruit. The palate is savoury and composed, with fine but assertive tannins that remind you they are there, bitter cherry and red fruits carrying confidently through the mid-palate.

As the wine gently warms in the glass, having been served from the hotel’s climate-controlled red room, the oak begins to emerge, seamlessly integrated and supportive, giving the wine both grip and elegance.

This was a genuine crowd-pleaser on the table, and a perfect match for the duck and a reminder of just how compelling Marsannay can be when site, vintage and craftsmanship align.
