St Hugo GSM 2024

I approached this wine looking for some corporate polish and inspiration, but unfortunately came away a little underwhelmed. The palate presents as a fairly straightforward, dry red blend without the personality, energy or varietal expression you expect from a premium GSM.

For a price point north of $40, I found it lacking the lift, spice and texture that define the best examples of the style. In this bracket, I’d be steering toward producers like Kalleske, who deliver far more character and value at close to half the cost.

A respectable wine, but not one that delivers on its price promise.
