Tomich ‘Clone I10V1’ Chardonnay 2025, Adelaide Hills
Tomich ‘Clone I10V1’ Chardonnay 2025, Adelaide Hills
After the 2010 Adelaide Hills fires, my sons and I spent a Sunday volunteering in this vineyard. I’m not sure how much help we actually were. It was about showing up for Randall and the Tomich family. Our own trees were touched up by the Pinery fire in 2015, so we know how confronting that is.
This wine takes me straight back there. Block D. From memory, we were working right alongside it. Good to see the family still moving forward.
Bright straw. Lemon, white peach and ripe stone fruit, then citrus blossom and a little cream.
Medium-bodied and finely textured. Generous tropical fruit, fresh acid, a clean mineral edge. Purity through the middle and delicious oak integration. Long, focused finish. Excellence in viticulture and winemaking.
I can see the vineyard when I taste this wine and the memories along the way.
Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Pure, finely textured Hills Chardonnay with stone fruit, citrus and a long mineral finish.
