Irvine Grand Merlot Special Release 2019, Eden Valley

Deep ruby with developed garnet hues. The aromatics are rich and savoury, showing black cherry, ripe plum and dark berries layered with tobacco leaf, dried herbs, mocha and subtle earthy complexity.

The palate is medium to full-bodied, plush and generously textured, with dark plum and black cherry flowing into savoury spice, dark chocolate, leather and tobacco. Fine, mature tannins provide structure, while the oak has settled beautifully into the wine.

There is a lovely contrast between ripe fruit richness and the more developed savoury characters, finishing long, earthy and persistent.
