Ponting Barbeque Sauce, Pinot Noir & Pepperberry

Ponting Barbeque Sauce, Pinot Noir & Pepperberry

Tasmania on the grill. Pinot for the fruit, pepperberry for the bite. Ponting outs this on steak. Deep mahogany, glossy. Ripe red berry and a sweet-sour Pinot line, then that Tasmanian pepperberry: woody, spicy, a little wild.

Full and sticky enough to cling. Fruit first, then a savoury, peppery finish that does not just sit there as sugar. Works on lamb, snags, even roast veg. Not a wine. Still very Ponting: Tassie, no fuss, made to go with dinner.

Vino Masters Score: 95/100 ★★★★★ Pinch of Pinot Noir & Pepperberry, proper sauce
