Blue Pyrenees Estate Red 2024, Victoria

Blue Pyrenees Estate Red 2024, Victoria

The latest release of an iconic and much-loved Australian blend, the Estate Red carries a proud legacy dating back to its first vintage in 1982. Blue Pyrenees itself has been crafting estate-grown wines since 1963, and this wine remains a cornerstone of the range. For many, it’s a label with history - personally, it was a standout during my time at Philip Murphy Wines in Toorak in the mid-90s, where it flew out the door by the case!

The Wine
67% Cabernet Sauvignon | 16% Merlot | 14% Shiraz | 2% Cabernet Franc | 1% Malbec

Deep ruby with youthful vibrancy. Aromas of blackberry, plum and red cherry are layered with hints of spice and a gentle earthiness.

The palate is where this wine truly shines; medium-bodied, seamless and irresistibly drinkable. Waves of blackberry, plum and dark cherry glide across the palate, supported by beautifully silky tannins and impeccably balanced acidity. The blend is expertly judged, with each variety playing its role to perfection. Subtle savoury notes, a touch of spice and a whisper of cocoa build through the mid-palate, creating both interest and flow. Everything feels in harmony, nothing out of place, nothing overdone. The finish is smooth, mouthwatering and quietly persistent, inviting another sip.

This is a wine that nails its brief; approachable yet refined, generous yet controlled. Simply put, it’s delicious drinking and incredibly hard to resist.
