Schwarz Wine Co. Nitschke Block Single Vineyard Shiraz 2024, Barossa Valley

Schwarz Wine Co. Nitschke Block Single Vineyard Shiraz 2024, Barossa Valley

Bethany, in the eastern Barossa Ranges. Planted in 1968 by Jason Schwarz’s parents. Dry-grown, hand-tended old vines. Just 3,400 bottles in 2024.

Deep crimson with an intense purple-black core. Blackberry, black plum and blueberry, with dark chocolate and earthy spice. A savoury character sits under the fruit, hinting at the dry-grown, mature-vine origins.

Full-bodied, powerful and beautifully concentrated. Layers of dark berry fruit flow across the mouth. Fine grained tannins give plenty of structure and balanced acidity keeps it surprisingly fresh despite the weight. Subtle oak adds mocha, cedar and savoury spice without getting in the way of the fruit. The finish is long, commanding and persistent, with blackberry and dark chocolate lingering.

Old-vine Barossa Shiraz. Concentration, freshness and real personality.

Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Old-vine Barossa Shiraz. Concentration, freshness and real personality. Drink now to 2036
