Carrick Wines Bannockburn Chardonnay 2023, Central Otago

Sourced from some of Carrick’s oldest organically grown Chardonnay vines, planted across the estate’s wind-swept Bannockburn site and glacial alluvial soils. Five individual parcels and four clones were hand-picked and fermented in barrel, with 15% new oak, before 11 months’ maturation on lees and a further seven months resting in tank.

Bright straw with pale gold reflections. Aromas of white peach, grapefruit and citrus blossom are layered with subtle almond, vanilla, mineral notes and a hint of salted caramel brittle. The palate is full and beautifully balanced, delivering ripe stone fruit, lively citrus and a silky texture framed by restrained oak. Crisp butterscotch acidity brings freshness carrying through to a clean persistent finish.
