Maverick Ahrens’ Creek Shiraz 2022, Barossa Valley

Maverick Ahrens’ Creek Shiraz 2022, Barossa Valley

From the highly regarded Ahrens’ Creek vineyard in the Barossa, home to some very old Shiraz vines.  Deep, dense colour. Bright colour, with crimson rim. The nose is rich and complex with dark plum, blackberry and black cherry layered with spice, a touch of leather and savoury depth.

The flavours are medium bodied and finely balanced with concentrated red cheery fruit, fine-grained tannins and excellent structure. There’s power here without heaviness, and a long, persistent finish that carries both fruit and savoury complexity. A serious, well-composed Barossa Shiraz with real presence and ageing potential.

Vino Masters Score: 96/100 ★★★★★ Powerful, classy and finely structured, a high-quality Ahrens’ Creek Shiraz that lives up to the vineyard’s reputation.
