Hesketh ‘Ebenezer’ Shiraz 2021, Barossa Valley
Hesketh ‘Ebenezer’ Shiraz 2021, Barossa Valley
Deep inky-purple with a vibrant crimson rim, showing excellent concentration and youthful vibrancy. The nose is dark and brooding, offering generous blackberry, dark plum and spice layered with dark chocolate, cracked pepper and subtle earthy complexity.
On the palate this is medium to full-bodied with impressive concentration and structure. The wine carries both opulent richness and savoury detail, giving it immediate presence and intrigue. Dense dark berry fruit drives the entry before spice, mocha and savoury oak build through a seamless mid-palate.
Textured and ripe tannins provide excellent grip and shape, while balanced acidity keeps the wine energetic and composed. The finish is long, smooth and richly flavoured with lingering dark berry and spice persistence.
Vino Masters Score: 95/100 ★★★★★ Rich, structured and expressive
Personal Note: I mean, I love Ebenezer. I drive down through here every second day and follow the seasons of this vineyard. Occasionally it’s by my gravel bike! There’s something special about tasting a wine from a place you know so well.
